Our first week long break is coming up, September 22 - 27. I am sooooo looking forward to it! When I scheduled our breaks I was very leery of the whole idea but now I am beginning to see some of the advantages. I'm looking forward to cleaning out closets and catching up on laundry, re-evaluating some of our curriculum choices and reworking our daily routine. It's amazing what can get undone or need redone in just 7 weeks. Before I would have just pushed through until we took our Christmas break and then tried to clean everything up a bit for 2ND semester. I'm soooo glad I don't have to wait until then.
Homeschooling requires constant tweaking and evaluating. I'm ok with that but sometimes I can still end up feeling like the tree in the picture. If I don't take time for myself (or more importantly time with God) and my homeschool I end up twisting in the wind and a bit out of control.Anyone else ever feel that way? Please share with me how you get back on track! I'm not lost or anything but it's so nice to hear the ideas of others.
Have a great day!
Alone time always works for me. Usually it involves being outside. Sometimes starting out on a calm walk that takes you to somewhere peaceful. A quiet playground, a park, a picnic table, a shade tree. Then just sitting and listening and talking to yourself and God at the same time. I find that if I remove all the temptations to do something else (clean, homework, work, read, tv, family, food, errands) then the rest of life comes back into perspective. It regenerates me and reassures me that life can be beautiful so we must enjoy it. Including taking time for you.
