Motor Works and Painting (aka...Not a Snow Day)

Even though it looked like this outside.

And even though we got a late start...yesterday ended up being a school day. Just after I decided a snow day wouldn't be so bad the boys decided to start some projects.

W decided to build his Smithsonian Motor Works project. It's a 4 cylinder engine model that you put together. He's had it for a few months and not expressed much interest so I was glad he asked about it today.

He didn't actually get it put together all the way...we never did find the directions. However his interest has been piqued and he and Dad will be looking for directions online.

As for J, once he realized his playmate was otherwise occupied he decided a little painting would do him some good.

He started out thinking he would make a lions mask out of a paper plate but his art soon took on a life of it's own. You gotta love a finished product with a smile!!

Once these projects were put away we decided to round out the day with some math and reading and housework and such. :)
