Read and have kids act out the story of Joshua and the battle of Jericho.
Sometimes missionaries see what they thought was impossible done too! Never be afraid to do what God has called you to. He will provide a way for it to happen!

Quiz
Have the kids translate the ingredients of a recipe from French into English. (French is the language of DRC.) Remind them that missionaries have to learn the language wherever they go. How difficult would it be if you didn't have the Bible in your own language. Being able to communicate clearly with the people around you is key in building relationships and therefore impacting the world with Jesus' love.

The following is a list of games that are played by children in DRC:
Jumping Rope
Suggestion for jumping rope: have them chant and learn the following proverb which children in the Wesleyan church of the DRC learn based on the story of Cain and Able...
"One should not kill,
one should not have the spirit of revenge,
one should not envy,
and one should not have the spirit of hatred
because what you will have sown
is what you will grow."
One, Two, Three, Four, Sun
Choose a leader who will stand in front of the group. This person will rotate between facing the group and turning his/her back on them. When the leader's back is turned the other kids will run toward the leader. When the leader is ready to turn around they will yell, "One, two, three, four, sun!" The person who reaches the leader first will take over the leadership position. This game is played much like Red Light, Green Light.
Art
For younger kids: age 3 - grade 2
The directions on this link can be followed or adapted. My idea is to use oatmeal containers and glue the construction paper to it and then have strips of paper to create a design and some animals of Africa stickers to complete the design. Needed items would be oatmeal containers, white glue, construction paper and animal stickers.
