Our first 2 weeks...

Our first 2 weeks without the distractions of cable tv and the internet have been nice but I'll admit it's taking some serious getting used too, especially in the area of banking. So little thought went into banking when we were able to do it online everyday! We quit keeping track of our spending on paper...and became accustomed to just checking it everyday online and now we can't and that has been our biggest challenge. Now we must actually pay attention and use our brains...

I'm getting excited about homeschooling this year! Our break has been really good for me because I've been watching my boys learn even without my direction. It has become a part of the fabric of their being and I'm hoping to tap into that this coming up school year. We'll be using less textbook type stuff and more real life type stuff this year than usual. Our main source of book knowledge will be the Bible, the newspaper and a set of encyclopedias. We'll also be using the library a couple of times a week. I'm really looking forward to it!

The boys and I spent the weekend with my dad out in the country and had a wonderful time! We got to do a lot of the things country boys do all the time but suburban children don't get to do ever! My favorite part was sleeping outside under the stars. The boys and I ended up talking about God's promise to Abraham and how it seems so much loftier when you can actually see the stars! Where we live we can only see a few each night but out in the middle of nowhere we could see thousands! I kept thinking about the skies proclaiming the glory of God...
