Zacchaeus Was Short, What's Our Excuse?

"Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man he could not, because of the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way." Luke 19: 1-4 NIV

Zacchaeus had a pretty good reason for not being able to see Jesus. The Bible says he was short. I wonder sometimes what my problem is. Not that I don't know Jesus at all or never see him, but I do feel like I miss his presence much of the time. Size is not my problem but aren't we all "short" in one way or another?

What keeps us from seeing Jesus? What can we do to overcome what holds us back?

Zacchaeus refused to be held back. He climbed that great big tree and not only did he get to see Jesus but Jesus called him by name.
